Irina Chernikina is a writer, director, producer, editor and cinematographer. Her experience varies from development and production to post-production. She has worked on feature length and short films, serials, educational, music videos, commercials, corporate and more. Irina is a certified MNN producer (Manhattan Neighborhood Network)and a member of NYWIFT (New York Women of Film and Television).
Irina was born in Soviet Union Moscow and raised during the time of change in Russia. Movies played a big part in Irina’s life, giving her an escape from family troubles. When she came to the U.S. Irina chose to follow her dream of becoming a filmmaker. After she obtained a B.A. in Film Studies she started a film production company that she ran for eight years. The economy crash brought the decision to close her company. Irina was forced to pursue alternative ways to make a living, which proved to be a turbulent adventure. Back to a film career for over three years now, her focus is on narrative, as she's come to the conclusion that storytelling is her ultimate path.
Since her return Irina began to write, something that she stayed away from for all these years due to English being a second language. In 2017 she wrote her first feature film “Knockout” a female driven action film and before the year’s end she also wrote a sci-fi series pilot “Beginning of the Circle”. In 2018 she produced three short films and developed two web-series “Before The End” and “Monster Gene”. In 2019 she completed another feature length screenplay “Bum Next Door” and began production an anthology web-series “Bedtime Stories” that premiered in 2020. Irina currently in production of comedy series “Berda Mae & Ballulah”.
